NOTES :

Robert was the son of Thomas and Mary Burgess of Elbow Valley via Warwick.  Robert and his brother Thomas Sinclair Burgess 1160 enlisted in the First World War together on the same day in Brisbane.

At the time of his enlistment, Robert stated he was living at Legume, via Killarney.

While fighting in Palestine, he received a gunshot wound to the left shoulder. Following his safe return to Australia Robert married Vera Isabella Stevens on October 17, 1923. Their son was born in Inglewood.
