NOTES : Like his friend John Alexander Bryden, John Francis Carpender’s died when his plane was shot down over Germany.
He was the son of Arthur Francis and Eliza Markham Carpender of Warwick.
John attended Warwick Central State School and Warwick State High School. A keen sportsman, he captioned the swimming, tennis, football and athletics teams. In 1931 he was appointed School Captain. He contined to play football after he left school.
