NOTES : Godfrey Henry Collins was born at Warialda, New South Wales and was the son of Alexander Abe and Celia Collins (nee Crowell) of Yelarbon.

His older brothers Alexander William Collins 2158 and Clarence Matthew Collins 2157 had enlisted 10 months prior and were members of the 2nd Light Horse Regiment.

Godfrey embarked from Sydney on board HMAT A64 Demosthenes on 23 December 1916 as a member of the 26th Battalion. He saw active service in France and suffered a bayonet wound.

During WWII, Godfred once again enlisted and was placed on home service with the Service Number Q155881. His next of Kin was his wife Catherine Collins (nee Kempthorne).

Found Shot Dead

Dalby – Friday – Henry Godfred Collins, 52, carpenter, was found dead on the floor of the Glen Morgan Returned Soldiers’ Hall on Wednesday night, with a bullet wound in the forehead.

A rifle was found beside the body.
