NOTES : Frederick Deuble was born in Toowoomba on 6 April 1978 and was the son of Christian and Maria Catharina Deuble (nee Riethmuller) who lived at Glen Vale, Toowoomba. In 1903 he married Christina Catherine Friederike Wieden.

Prior to the First World War, Frederick had served for 14 months as a Private 372 in the 6th Queensland Imperial Bushmen Contingent, South African, Boer War before being invalided home.

Frederick and Christina were living and working as farmers at Kurumbul, at the time of his enlistment during the First World War.

The 4th Pioneer Battalion of which he was a member, embarked from Brisbane on board HMAT A49 Seang Choon on 19 September 1916.

While serving in France, Frederick was struck down with bouts of chronic bronchitis.

He commenced his return to Australia on board HT Balmoral Castle on 1 February 1918 and was discharged medically unfit, in Brisbane on 3 May 1919 and returned to his family in Goondiwindi where he secured work as a lengthsman with the railway.
