NOTES :

HAIG, George James was the third of six children born to James and Maud Catherine Haig at Beebo, Queensland. At the age of sixteen he and his father travelled to Eulo to look at a property for George. The owner of the property agreed to finance George for the purchase of the property.

In 1942 George enlisted in Eulo as a Private with the 19th Battalion Voluntary Defence Corps and served in this role until his discharge on 21st October 1945.

George would often be seen riding his bicycle around the property and into town. He married Zara Daphne Graham and they had five children.

George proved himself to be a dedicated grazier and through lots of hard work he developed a thriving property. In 1954 the Australia, Pastoral Directories listed George of Alroy, Eulo as having 520 head of sheep and 4,118 head of cattle.
