NOTES : Robert’s parents, James and Maria Hamilton migrated from Ireland in 1889 when Robert was eight years of age. His father died shortly after their arrival. He received a scholarship to Brisbane Grammar School in 1897 and began his teaching career at Irvinebank in North Queensland. Robert was appointed Acting Principal of Warwick Technical College and High School in July 194. He held this position until his enlistment in 1916. Upon his return he once again taught at Warwick State High School until his retirement in December 1948. During WWII he was appointed Divisional Officer in Warwick.
