NOTES : James was the son of George Henry Potter who was a tobacco grower in Texas. His was a student at the Texas State School then Warwick State High School.
James wanted to be a teacher and undertook his further education at the Brisbane Teacher’s Training College. He enjoyed playing tennis, cricket and football.
Initially, James joined the Australian Army (Q149018) but discharged from there on October 7, 1942 and two days later re-enlisted into the Royal Australian Air Force.
Tragically, James was killed along with three others from his crew, the remaining three members of the crew survived their wounds.
