NOTES : Joe, as he was known by his family was born in Warwick on 23 October 1918. His brother Richard Michael Shepherd QX35944 was killed in action in Papua New Guinea in December of 1944.
Joe’s parents were Richard and Bridget Mary Ellen Shepherd who originally lived at Yangan before moving to Wildash.
Joe was discharged from the Army on 31 October 1944. On 19 May 1945, he married Doreen Mary Russel of Tannymorel at St Mark’s Church of England.
