NOTES : Richard was killed in action by a Japanese sniper while leading his company as the forward scout in Papua New Guinea. His brother Joesph Edward Shepherd Q103105 was a member of the 25th Battalion.
At the time of his birth in Warwick on 16 January 1921, his parents Richard and Bridget Mary Ellen Shepherd owned and worked a farm at Yangan. The family later moved to a property they purchased in Wildash just south of Warwick.
