NOTES :

George Evans was the son of George and Mary Ellen Evans of Dalveen. At the time of his enlistment in Toowoomba in early January 1915, the family was living at Cambooya and George was working as a labourer. His older brother Thomas Evans 781 also enlisted in 1915 and was a member of the 42nd Battalion.

The 7th Australian Light Horse Regiment of which George was a member, embarked at Brisbane on June 16, 1915 bound for Gallipoli. Wounded in action on September 19, 1915, he suffered from a shell wound to the scalp and did not return to his unit until February 22, 1916. At the end of the war, George returned to Australia aboard the Malta and was discharged from the AIF on October 15, 1919.

May Josephine Martin married George on October 22, 1919 in Brisbane. During World War Two, George enlisted and was posted to the CMF Security Police in Brisbane from August 8, 1940 until October 6, 1945 when he was discharged.
