NOTES :

Thomas Joseph Evans was the son of George and Mary Ellen Evans of Dalveen. The family moved to Cambooya and Thomas secured a job with the Government Railways Department in Toowoomba.

Assigned to the 42nd Battalion, he departed Australia aboard the Borda, for overseas service on June 5, 1916. His brother George Evans 268 also joined the Australian Imperial Forces during World War One.

Whilst fighting in France, Thomas suffered a non-threatening gunshot wound to the left wrist in September 1918 and was admitted to 2nd Western General Hospital for treatment.

His service record states he arrived in Australia on February 1, 1919 and was discharged March 27, 1919.
